altura. Su tronco puede alcanzar hasta 1 metro de di\u00e1metro y su copa es esf\u00e9rica. De corteza lisa, posee un color pardo claro, gris cenicienta cuando son adultos y rasgadas longitudinalmente.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hojas simples, alternas, cori\u00e1ceas (textura dura y flexible, como el cuero) de hasta 5 cent\u00edmetros; l\u00e1mina aovada (forma de huevo), glabra (Desprovisto totalmente de pelos), lustrosa (brillante), obtusa (que no acaba en punta) o sub-aguda en el \u00e1pice (extremo superior o punta de la hoja, fruto, tallo, etc.); margen con algunos dientes separados, haz (parte superior de la l\u00e1mina de la hoja) de color verde claro amarillento y brillante.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">El Quillay es una especie pol\u00edgama, ya que posee flores masculinas y hermafroditas. Adem\u00e1s, presenta flores actinomorfas (tiene m\u00e1s de dos planos de simetr\u00eda), dispuestas generalmente en peque\u00f1os corimbos terminales o bien solitarias. El c\u00e1liz (conjunto de los s\u00e9palos de una flor) tiene 5 s\u00e9palos y la corola (conjunto de p\u00e9talos de una flor) 5 p\u00e9talos libres, espatulados, de color blanco cremosa.
